Charlotte Sports Park in Port Charlotte

Charlotte Sports Park has undergone plenty of changes in its two plus decades of life. Opened in 1987 as Charlotte County Stadium, it underwent a $27.2 million metamorphosis that began in 2007 and was spurred by the Tampa Bay Rays desire to bring the ballpark back into active status on the Grapefruit League circuit, a status that it hadn't had since 2002, when the Texas Rangers wrapped up their 15th and final season in Port Charlotte.

From new to obsolete in 15 years, Port Charlotte's stadium is new once again. What follows is a gallery of photos that will take you from its original incarnation to the amenity-laden place that it has become. Enjoy.
